Hi all, I built a small browser tool for getting images onto the Xteink readers. You drop in an image and it gives you back a BMP sized exactly to the screen — 528×792 for the X3, 480×800 for the X4 (and the new X4 Pro, same panel). Switching the target device just re-renders at the other size. Everything runs locally in your browser: no upload, no account, no server — the images never leave your machine. CUMA — Ultimate Manga Converter A Windows desktop application designed for cleaning and converting PDF, image, EPUB, and XTCH files, with a focus on manga, comic books, and scanned content. It was created to make it easier to produce manga files from images and PDFs for e-readers such as the Xteink X4 and X3, Kindle, Kobo, as well as devices with custom screen resolutions. The application can remove unnecessary parts of pages, keeping only the relevant image content. For example, it can clean a manga or comic PDF downloaded from an online reading website by removing borders, advertisements, headers, and other unwanted elements. Any help or contribution to the project would be greatly appreciated. I am not a programmer, but I have some understanding of programming logic. I created this application using Copilot and ChatGPT to solve a personal problem: reading, creating, and converting manga that is not easily available, using a simple all-in-one tool.

After seeing several cases for the XTEink X4, I noticed they really weren't doing anything to protect the screen, USB port, and particularly, all the buttons. I was concerned the power button would be pressed while in my pocket. It takes so little to press the button and power on the device leading to losing my place in the book I'm reading. So I made my own case. I spent a lot of time making sure the buttons were protected, sliding into a recessed track regardless of whether the device was screen up or screen down. The screen slides along tracks so that the readable portion of the screen never comes in direct contact with the case and getting scratched. The buttons on the face also slide along an open track to make sure they never come in contact with the case as well. I also created a cutout to make access to the face buttons and side buttons easy, as well as making it simple to push the device up and out of the case, from reading mode to pocket mode.

Documentation of my findings analyzing OTA file. My goal was to extract system fonts and try to re-implement external non monospaced fonts like system ones. During that I've managed to extract .bin into blocks of system images. Unfortunately I came to a wall and my current hypothesis is that system fonts are using some internal functions we can't properly use for external fonts. Further investigation is needed, as maybe we could prepare OTA file that can pass new font as internal one, which would allow us to use fonts like Bookerly as system ones.

This is documentation of my tries of getting into system files. My first try was on English 3.0.2 OTA which I assume is encrypted and hard to work with. This time I was trying to do it on Chinese version from this hub which seems unencrypted and easier to "unpack" and cut into partition segments. I've managed to do that, but because of lack of variables and documentations in those partitions, I think it would need now to be manually de-assembled.
