Since when
Late 2025 I was tossing up between a Kobo Libre Colour and a Kindle Colorsoft. Hours of research filled my algorithm with ereaders, and then one day the Xteink X4 popped up. For a fraction of the price, I thought, why not? It’s been simply perfect. The complete opposite of what I thought I wanted!
How I use it
I have a 40 minute bus ride to and from work where I read very old fantasy novels. Sometimes I wish the bus ride was longer so that I could continue reading uninterrupted!
What I love
The CrossPoint firmware scratches the personalisation and tinkering itch. Plus, loading books onto the X4 has felt so nostalgic—like loading music onto an iPod 20 years ago.
What I'd change
After hours of research into Kobos and Kindles, the X4 is perfect. A stripped back device that puts reading first.
Tip for new members
CrossPoint is a must have. Also consider getting a silicone case and a wrist strap for wilder bus rides.
