Headwater Edition turns your Xteink X3 or X4 into a one-button reader for your Headwater digest, without giving up anything CrossPoint already does.

Headwater is a web app that summarizes the YouTube channels you follow. This firmware puts that digest on the reader. Power on, open Headwater, press Update, and it pulls the recent issues you don't have yet over Wi-Fi. Summaries are filed by channel instead of a feed, so nothing piles up waiting for you.

Everything CrossPoint does still works underneath. EPUB reading, file browser, OPDS, transfers, and themes all stay. This just adds the Headwater app on top. It's a fork, not a wipe. Your books, reading progress, and Wi-Fi/OPDS setup live on the SD card and carry straight over. (Back up your SD card first, as with any flash.)

On the money, so it's clear: I make Headwater, and there will always be a free version. Some features may become paid later, but this firmware is free and stays free, MIT-licensed like the project it's built on.
